Ariana Grande Butera was born in Florida in the year 1993, June 26. She is a songwriter, actress, and singer. Her career began like many through the Broadway musical “13”, after which Ariana played the cast of Cat Valentine in the Nickelodeon TV series of the year 2010 to 2013. She also starred in the spinoff, Sam and Cat (2013 to 2014). She is quite famously known to have lent her voice to many animated television and films. However, her original music career began with a soundtrack Music from Victorious in 2011. Three of her albums has starred at the number one spot of the U.S billboard 200, and they include Yours truly (2013), My Everything (2014), and Sweetener (2018). Two of her albums, Dangerous Woman and Thank You, Next has also been on the number two spot.

Ariana Grande Biography

Ariana Grande was born originally in Boca Raton, Florida. Her parents are Joan Grander, a Brooklyn-born CEO of Hose-McCann Communications and Edward Butera, who is a graphic designer firm owner in Boca Raton. She is from the Italian descent and calls herself “half Sicilian and half Abruzzese. She says her name, Ariana was inspired by Princess Oriana in the movie, Felix the Cat: The film.

Her older half-brother is an entertainer and producer and goes by the name Frankie Grande. She is also very close to her maternal grandmother, Majorie Grande.  Her mom had initially moved from New York to Florida while pregnant with her before getting separated from her father, when Ariana was about 8 years old.

Her passion for performing art began as a child, for she played at one time in Fort Lauderdale Children’s theater where she starred in the movie Annie. She has also performed in the musicals for Beauty and the Beast and Wizard of Oz. While only eight years old, she had performed at a karaoke lounge on a cruise ship with various well-known orchestras such as Symphonic Orchestras, Florida sunshine Pops and South Florida’s Philharmonics. Her primary and high school education was done at the Pine Crest School and North Broward Preparatory School.

She began taking music seriously at age 13. However, she concentrated on theater performance.  Her goal, however, when she got to L.A was to start making R&B music albums, but her managers discouraged this move because she was only 14.  Therefore, by 2008, she focused on musicals earning a supporting role as Cheerleader, Charlotte in the musical 13, which later got her an award. By the time of joining the musicals, she had enrolled in the North Broward Preparatory school but did her schooling from her showbiz as the school sent materials her way, so she did not miss out.

In 2009, she was cast in the Victorious which is a Nickelodeon TV show alongside the 13 costars, Elizabeth Gillies. Due to her role in the movie, she had to dye her hair red because the executive producer did not wish that all of his cast members be brunettes and felt that the red hair was the personality of Cat Valentine, which was her role in the movie.

This show premiered in March 2010 and received well over 5.7 million viewers, therefore propelling Grande to the teen idol status.

After the Victorious outfit, she played the role of Miriam in a musical, Cuba Libre and after this decided to concentrate on her music career. This was when she began working on her debut album.

Her first single “Put Your Hearts Up” was released in 2011, recorded for a teen oriented pop-album which she later disowned for reasons of not having any interests in that genre.  She later did a voicing for the fairy princess diaspora in 13 episodes of the Nickelodeon, after which he did release the songs for the musicals such as Hold On till the Night and Snowflake, the White Gorilla. Ariana Grande has also starred in many other movies and plays during the few years she has spent in the entertainment Industry. She juggles, amazingly making movies and soundtracks, like never seen before. A lot of her albums have topped the US Billboard 200, and she is the fifteenth female artist (after Kesha) to have her first debut album rocking the top position. Her album Yours Truly, did not just debut in the top 200 at the first position in the U.S but also topped the top 10 list in many other countries including Ireland, UK, Australia, and Netherlands.

She is also the only female music artist to debut two songs in the top 10 of the Hot Digital Songs chart in 2013. She has done duets with Nathan Sykes of the Wanted, unleashing the song, Almost is Never Enough.

Ariana Grande has also gone on tours with Justin Beiber and done duets with Ryan Tedder.  She at one time in 2014, sang at the White House Concert, Women of Soul: In Performance at the White House earning an invitation from President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama for the Easter Egg Roll event that same year.

She has received accolades for her shocking impression of Jennifer Lawrence and has been described for her Judy Garland seen as a boozy starship commander. Ariana Grande has also won an online voting poll at one time for the Best host of the season organized by Entertainment Weekly. She has released duets with Christina Aguilera and also the popular hit single: ”Side to Side” with Nicki Minaj.

This song has received more than 1.4 billion views and the album Dangerous Woman graced the top list of the Billboard 200 four weeks.

Ariana Grande has named favorite artists, Mariah Carey, and Whitney Houston as her influences in the music industry. She has also said that her childhood influence was Judy Garland due to her ability to tell a story through her songs. Beyonce, India Arie, Fergie, and Brandy have also been cited as her inspirations.

Ariana Grande’s style of music is Pop and R&B with little combinations of hip-hop and EDM. She grew up listening to 90s music and urban pop which were inspirations for going this far with her music style.  She is a whistle register, which means she has the highest level of the human voice and therefore also has four-octave soprano vocal range. Her voice is unique and has earned her praises from the likes of Katy Perry, Lady Gaga, Chris Martin and Kelly Clarkson.

Ariana Grande has revealed that she had low blood sugar and had at one time developed Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) which she got after the 2017 Manchester Arena bombing. However, she has received treatments for mental health challenges.

She was once a catholic but pulled out because the church shuns homosexuality and her brother, Frankie is gay.  She is in support of LGBT rights.
