Duncan Mighty, with full name Duncan Wene Mighty Okechukwu is one of the top Nigerian musicians. He is also a producer and songwriter, recording artist and stage performer. He is a talented artist from the local government, Obio Akpor in Rivers State, the South-South zone of Nigeria.
The Wene Mighty crooner was born on the 28th of October in 1983 right in the city of Port Harcourt. His fans, family, and friends proudly know him as “Port Harcourt first son” a name which stuck after one of his first favored hit single “Port Harcourt boy” He is the only child born to his parents.
Duncan Mighty did his primary, secondary and tertiary education in Port Harcourt, the capital of Rivers State. His secondary education was undergone in the federal government college, Port Harcourt. He holds a bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering which until date still holds a significant aspect of his career.
Duncan Mighty began his journey to the Entertainment Industry from the premises of his childhood church, where he played the drums and sang in the choir. Because of his life for music, he also holds a diploma in Audio Engineering. In his Youth Service days, Duncan served as a sound instructor for Benson and Hedges.
During his industrial training in year 3, he also worked at Dolphin Studios at the Muson Centre in Lagos. He is a talented singer but also has an Immense degree of passion in music production; this is why he holds both positions. In 2006, Duncan Mighty began rendering his services to record companies such as D large and 360 records.
At some point, he left this record label, and then partnered with the celebrity Jeweller Chris Sure forming a recording company “Aire Mighty Records.”
At the time of this great event, also occurred another huge life-changing event. In 2007, Duncan Mighty lost his father.
Following this event, in 2008 Duncan Mighty released his very first album “Koliwater” which shocked the street and made him famous. His first album, a 22 track was so popular almost every music track made name such as “Ijeoma,” scatter my dada,” Ako nu Uche,” “Obia nu ju” and many more. His second studio album “Ahamafuna” released in 2010, was also very popular.
In 2012, Duncan also Heralded another great album an 18 track music album titled “Footprint” of which he featured many great appearances such as Timaya, Wande Coal, Otuu Sex, Sandoz Black and a lot of others. He has also received a title from the UN as a Peace Ambassador.
In the year 2011, Duncan Mighty was nominated for three different categories at the 6th Nigeria Entertainment Awards. He also received an award for the indigenous artiste of the year at the Nigeria Entertainment Awards.
In 2012, he received two nominations for the Headies Music Awards and also received a nomination by the Ghanaian Music Awards.
